The Department for International Trade has published a new open general export licence (OGEL): information security items. The purpose of this OGEL is to allow the export of ‘low risk’ information security items deploying encryption to a wide range of destinations. To read the whole license, click here. Yesterday, the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) published a list of Chinese goods on which additional duties can be imposed. The proposed list covers approximately 1,300 separate tariff lines and will undergo further review in a public notice and comment process, including a hearing.
