Russia publicizes sanctions against U.S. officials

On 16th April 2021, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation announced travel sanctions on eight high-ranking current and former U.S. officials. These sanctions are in retaliation for the 2nd March 2021 sanctions on Russian officials by the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) (see recent actions and press release). OFAC amends FAQs
On 12th April 2021, the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) published four amended Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). FAQs 97 and 98 give guidelines for submitting license applications under the Trade Sanctions Reform and Export Enhancement Act of 2000 (TSRA). FAQs 500 and 836 relate to the Sudan Program and Darfur Sanctions.


U.S. executive order terminates sanctions against the ICC
On 1st April 2021, U.S. President Biden issued an Executive Order (E.O.) entitled “Termination of Emergency With Respect to the International Criminal Court,” thereby revoking E.O. 13928 (“Blocking Property of Certain Persons Associated With the International Criminal Court”) from 11th June 2020.
