U.S. CBP detains imports suspected of being produced using forced labor
On 30 September 2019 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) issued five Withhold Release Orders (WROs). These WROs pertain to five different products produced in five different countries, all which are suspected of being produced using forced labor. CBP states that "Under U.S. law, it is illegal to import goods into the U.S that are made wholly or in part by forced labor". Importers may either re-export their goods or must provide evidence that their goods are not produced using forced labor.
