US State Department asks for the public’s comments on the ITAR language
On 26 July 2019 the US Department of State’s Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC) published a notice in the Federal Register (84 FR 36040) inviting the public to comment on the consolidation and/or clarification of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) (22 CFR parts 120-130). The DDTC specifies that it does not “seek input on whether individual exemptions in the ITAR should be expanded or eliminated”, but rather is attempting to better organize the ITAR and asks the public for comments identifying redundant sections, sections that could be consolidated, and/or ambiguous language. The comment period is open until 26 August 2019.
