OFAC issues regulations against foreign interference in U.S. Elections

On 29 April 2019 the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) issued regulations implementing Executive Order 13848. In Executive Order 13848, entitled “Imposing Certain Sanctions in the Event of Foreign Interference in a United States Election” and issued on 12 September 2018, the President declared a national emergency to deal with the threat of “persons located, in whole or in substantial part, outside the United States to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections”. These regulations are published in the Federal Register and effective 29 April 2019.

In the future, any entities added by OFAC due to these new regulations will be included in the U.S. List of Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (USSDN) and available to PST.AG customers.
