Updated Global Magnitsky Act Sanctions


The Trump Administration with the US Department of Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), in consultation with the Secretary of State and the Attorney General has imposed financial sanctions against 52 government-linked people in Global Magnitsky Act.

Now, the sanctioned list includes the eldest daughter of the late Uzbek President Islam Karimov; the son of Russian Prosecutor General Yury Chaika; a Ukrainian riot police commander; a Burmese Army general; and elsewhere, under a U.S. law aimed at human rights abusers and corrupt officials worldwide.

This new sanctions regime was launched to target the human rights abusers and corrupt actors around the world.
